Drag Racing Diavels at World Ducati Week 2014

The 8th annual World Ducati Week gets underway at the Misano circuit in Italy on July 18.

This year the popular “Drag Race” will be run twice, on the Friday and also again on the Saturday. The drag racing competition pits current Ducati racers against past legends who rode for Ducati.

Organised in collaboration with the Italian Motorcycling Federation (FMI) riders will compete for the 400 metres down the straight. After a warm up, each rider will have a single attempt at notching up the best time, then things will get serious during head-to-head racing on kitted 162hp Diavel Carbon’s. Set up specially for the occasion in Drag Race livery, higher performance ( and sound) will be provided via Termignoni exhausts.
Competing this year will be the entire Ducati MotoGP Team, featuring Andrea Dovizioso and Cal Crutchlow, together with Ducati MotoGP Factory test rider Michele Pirro, Ducati Superbike Team riders Davide Giugliano and Chaz Davies, Ducati’s WSBK test rider Matteo Baiocco, the MotoGP Pramac Team with its official Ducati riders Andrea Iannone and Yonny Hernandez, the Althea Racing Team’s Niccolò Canepa, and Manuel Poggiali.
The line-up of famous ex-racers include three time World Superbike Champion ,Troy Bayliss, 2011 World Superbike Champion Carlos Checa, former official SBK riders Ruben Xaus and Régis Laconi, hall-of-fame WSBK rider “Frankie” Chili, and finally the great Carl Fogarty, who has won more Superbike titles than anyone else.
