Reeds Dozen in a row
18th March 2007 In front of a sellout crowd at Orlando’s Citrus Bowl Australian Chad Reed recorded his 12th straight podium, once again rounding out the dais to finishing third and maintain second place in the 2007 Amp’d Mobile AMA Supercross Championship. Reed rode well through practice and quickly come to grips with the technical Orlando track. In the heats the 24 year old from Kurri Kurri in New South Wales finished a comfortable second behind Ricky Carmichael, earning himself third gate pick for the 20-lap Main Event. After claimed his fifth holeshot of the season, Reed led the opening lap of the race before being passed by Carmichael. The L&M/San Manuel/Yamaha rider held second before a lack of grip caused Reed to momentarily loose momentum and allowed his nemesis and current Championship leader James Stewart to slip past. Inconsistent riding by back markers then baulked his progress in the ensuing laps, costing Reed valuable time whilst trying to hunt down Stewart but the Yamaha star regrouped to finish a solid third. Shouldering the blame for not catching Stewart in the dying laps of the race, Reed confessed his own mistakes cost him a better podium position although was still happy with his overall riding style. "I made a great start but then I made a mess of getting through those lappers,” Reed said. “I feel I rode alright tonight, I just lost too much time there at the end.” “I blew that one myself tonight.” “I can honestly say I am sick of finishing third, I will be doing whatever I can to shake that third place next weekend in Indianapolis.” Reed commented. After twelve straight podium finishes,Reed has show that he is by far the most consistent rider in the Amp’d Mobile AMA SX field. Reed and his L&M/San Manuel/Yamaha team will race again next weekend at Round 12 of the Amp’d Mobile AMA Supercross Series which will be held at the RCA Dome in Indianapolis, Indiana, USA on Saturday 24h March.
