Kawasakis Reardon wins 2007 MX Championship

In near perfect racing conditions at The Lakes track in NSW, Dan Reardon piloted his KX450F to Championship victory with one final round still to go.

In near perfect racing conditions at The Lakes track in NSW, Dan Reardon piloted his KX450F to Championship victory, as he extended his points lead out to 59 points in the Pro Open class – with one final round still to go, making KRT unbeatable in the Title race.

With the final round at Coolum next weekend, Reardon is preparing to finish his last Australian round in peak form for KRT, before he makes his way to the US at the end of the month to begin his dream of competing in the AMA.

“It is a fantastic result for Kawasaki and the great team of people around me to wrap up the 2007 Championship with one round still to go,” said Reardon. “I can’t thank KRT enough for putting so much effort into making my dream of winning both the 2007 Australian Supercross and Motocross Titles a reality. My goal for 2007 was to win both Titles before going overseas to race and we have achieved it. I can’t thank the guys at Kawasaki enough for their support over the years and for always giving me a great bike to ride. Not once this year has my bike missed a beat in racing which is evidence that the product and team just work great.”

“Wrapping the Championship up with one round still to go is an awesome effort by everyone involved in the Team and we will be out there to continue our domination, whilst having a bit of fun, next weekend at Coolum. I really enjoy racing on that track and I intend on going out there and riding the final round event with as much conviction as I have shown all season,” Reardon said.

The excitement of KRT’s racing dominance didn’t stop in just the Pro Open Class with both Pro Lites pilots, Mitch Hoad and Cody Mackie, showcasing the Team’s talents – in what was one of the Pro Lites most exciting races of the 2007 Motocross season. KRT finished Race One in second and third place, in what was thrilling racing. Hoad and Mackie were amongst the leading riders on the opening laps, with both pilots quick to work their way up into the top three.

Mackie showed great pace onboard his KX250F and once up in second, he didn’t faulter, holding the position for the remainder of the race. Hoad charged home to finish a close .221 of a second behind his team mate. “I felt great in Race One and was on the pace the entire race,” said Mackie. “I was amongst the leading riders right from the start and I was reeling Mossy in, who was in front of me, as the race went on. I took good lines and my bike was fast. It was great for KRT to have both Hoady and I finish so competitively. "

“Unfortunately in Race Two, after recording such a good result in Race One, things just didn’t go the way we wanted. I missed the start and was way down the order on the opening laps. With good race pace though, I worked my way back up to sixth place, but a mechanical fault on an after market part forced me to withdraw from the race. It was definitely not the way we wanted to fi nish the days racing after showing such promising form early on,” Mackie said.

Mitch Hoad unleashed his hometown track knowledge on the Pro Lites field, producing blistering pace onboard his KX250F. “In Race One I got away to a reasonable start and I made good moves in the opening corners to get up into third place,” said Hoad. “I was riding well and I had a few good tussles with Moss early on, but I got a little loose at the top of the hill and I went down. I lost quite a few places in the crash, but I charged hard and eventually got back into third place with ten minutes to go. I was riding fast and I was catching Mackie and Moss, but unfortunately I just ran out of time.”

“In Race Two, I got the perfect start and hole shotted the race. I rode away to pull a good lead on the opening laps and was out on my own for the first ten minutes of the race. As I tried to work my way through lapped riders, I was slowed up a little and Tobin made ground on me.” “Twenty minutes into the race I went off the main line heading into a jump and came unstuck. I lost places remounting and unfortunately bent my bike in the crash. I was forced to ride bent for the remainder of the race. I managed to salvage seventh place which took my overall result to fourth on the day,” Hoad said.

Brett Whale was ecstatic for Daniel and the Team to have wrapped up KRT’s second 2007 Open Championship and was happy with the determination shown by both Lites riders. “It is an awesome result for Kawasaki and the Team to secure the 2007 Motocross Title with still one round of racing to go,” said Whale. “Daniel has done an awesome job for Kawasaki over the years and his dual Championship win in 2007 is a great achievement for such a talented young rider.”

“Mitch and Cody have achieved good results in the Lites Class, with Hoady currently holding a good point’s lead over third place, Danny Anderson, heading into the final round.
