Chad Reed for Bercy SX
Chad Reed will compete at Europe’s oldest and most prestigious Supercross event, the Bercy Supercross this weekend
Chad Reed will compete at Europe’s oldest and most prestigious Supercross event, the Bercy Supercross this weekend, and has been rated as favourite for victory following his electric US Open form. He received an invitation to compete while at home in Australia and eagerly accepted, having not raced in front of the enthusiastic Paris crowds since 2001. Reed was last in action at the hotly-contested US Open in Las Vegas, where he was en route to claiming the major prize after blitzing the competition in the opening stages. A tangle in the last dash for the holeshot put him out of contention for the overall win, and he is determined to ensure that there is no repeating the same mistake this weekend.
"I’m looking forward to racing this weekend, it’s certainly been a while for me, around 5 years since I last raced the event," said Reed. "I’m confident that I am in good form and the bike is performing very well, and am out to make amends for the disappointment at the US Open. I’m at peak fitness heading into the weekend and this will be another great opportunity to improve race pace as the regular Supercross season approaches."
Reed will race for the title in both an individual and team capacity, and slots into the talented lineup of ‘Rest of the World’ riders vying for a top place finish. The stadium-based event reverts to an ‘open’ competition including both 250cc and 450cc machines for the first time since 2001. It will take on a tournament-style format, with extra track time to entertain the massive crowds, and the finals consisting of 2 races for each rider.
Following the event, Chad will return to his home in Florida where he will step up his training routine once more in preparation for World and AMA SX competition which begins in January.
