Suzuki Australia has announced the arrival of the new RM-Z250K8 four-stroke motocross machine
Suzuki Australia has announced the arrival of the new RM-Z250K8 four-stroke motocross machine, featuring a number of key developments that ensure it will be the one to catch on the racetrack. Featuring a lightweight and powerful 249cc, four-stroke engine coupled with a strong, lightweight aluminium chassis, Showa suspension and an array of high-performance components, the RM-Z250 is a pack-leading Pro Lites racer.
The latest version of this awesome motocrosser features a wide range of modifications, including developments to the engine, frame, suspension and brakes, plus striking new graphics. Powered by a compact, 249cc, four-stroke, liquid-cooled, DOHC engine, Suzuki’s latest RM-Z250 is further improved with a redesigned piston profile for less mechanical resistance, to deliver exhilarating performance.
The composite-plated, aluminium-alloy cylinder offers increased durability, optimum engine cooling and operating temperature, with a forged, two-ring piston designed for maximum oil retention and minimal wear. Incorporating two ignition maps, the AC-CDI ignition system automatically increases engine idle speed to reduce engine brake effect, while the ignition timing and rev limiter are set for optimum high rpm and over-rev performance.Newly equipped with a Keihin FCR37MX carburetor with bat-wing type air guide plates results in better mid-to-high power output and improved throttle response at low rpm.
The twin-spar aluminium-alloy frame, based on the championship winning RM-Z450, now offers even better rider manoeuvrability through a revised chassis. Modified to reduce weight and improve shock absorption, the 47mm inner tube, Showa inverted, twin-chamber, cartridge-style front fork offers 22-way compression damping, 20-way rebound damping and 300mm of wheel travel, delivering even more agile handling for racers. The Showa rear shock absorber comprises a newly designed damper case and modified internal structure for a better controlled feel and increased bottoming resistance.
Race-inspired front and rear brake wave-rotors provide better cooling performance and increased mud deflection in muddy conditions. Set to stand out from the pack, Suzuki’s distinctive Champion Yellow livery incorporates aggressive new graphics for 2008, while the new gold-plated drive chain and axle blocks give a full factory look.
The Suzuki RM-Z250 is now available at an SRP of $9,990 (inc GST).
