Chad Reed has podiumed again in San Francisco

Australia’s World/AMA Supercross Champion Chad Reed has finished on the podium for the fifth round in succession despite suffering a nasty practice crash at Round 5 of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship event at San Francisco’s AT&T Park yesterday.

The Rockstar Makita Suzuki rider took it cautiously during his eight lap heat race, using the session to continue to work on his line selection and race rhythm before finishing fourth.

Reed got a reason able start in the Main Event and was fourth into the first turn.  The reigning champion moved quickly into third before a battle for position with Mike Alessi over the ensuing laps allowed race winner James Stewart to pull away to an unattainable lead.

Reed went on to finish second and still holds a six point lead in the championship race.

“For what we had to work with behind the gate I got a pretty good start in the Main,” Reed explained.

“The first couple of laps were made difficult as I battled with Mike (Alessi) which allowed James to pull away a lot.

“I still have the points lead. Right now that is important and we go back to Anaheim next weekend to a track that has being designed by Jeremy McGrath, so I am looking forward to that,” he added.

Round 6 of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship event will be held on Saturday 7 February and sees the series return to Anaheim’s Angel Stadium for the final time this season.
