Mugello 2009 Italian MotoGP results
Results from the 2009 Italian MotoGP round held at Mugello on May 31st 2009
Casey Stoner has ended Valentino Rossi’s seven year winning streak at Mugello.
Echoing theĀ LeMans round, the rain affected race again featured pit stops which saw the lead of the race change many times. Pole sitter Jorge Lorenzo got off to a shakey start, crashing on the out lap, forcing him to start on his second bike. He bounced back for a 2nd placing, in front of Rossi in 3rd. 4th was Repsol Honda’s Andrea Dovizioso, who relegated Suzuki’s Loris Capirossi to 5th in the closing laps.
Dani Pedrosa crashed heavily again, aggravating his already damaged hip. Casey Stoner now leads the World Championship.
