New Motorcycle Sales figures for the first 3 quarters of 2010 – January to September.

Motorcycle Sales Australia 3rd Quarter 2010

The FCAI has released the figures for new motorcycle sales over the period January to September 2010.

The overall dip in sales compared to 2009 is reasonably mild, with an average drop of 10%. There are mixed results, with BMW chalking up a victory of sorts by actually increasing sales over the similar period in 2009, up 10.8%. At the other end of the scale, of the major distributors in Australia, Yamaha took a solid 21.7% drop, with Ducati at 22.8% down.

Those percentages can be deceptive, both BMW and Ducati put together don’t even sell 20% of Yamaha’s total unit sales.

Honda led the sales figures overall with 15,447 sales, with it’s CT110 again Australia’s top seller at over 1800 units. The next biggest seller was Kawasaki’s 250R Ninja, down 19% over last year, but still a decent 1442 sales. The Kawasaki Ninja 250 R was the only pure road motorcycle in the the Top 10 sellers list.

The “BupBow” award must go to Yamaha’s R1, with a massive 53% drop in sales,
