YZ two-strokes are still climbing the top step of the podium. And that looks set to continue with the announcement of new world MX rules that will give the two-strokes equal status with their four-stroke cousins.
Yamaha currently holds number one plates for all two-stroke models thanks to Queensland Junior Development Team rider Shaun Redhead (YZ85LW), NZ junior ace Hamish Dobbyn (YZ125) and world veteran title holder Tony Cooksley (YZ250). Now Yamaha’s two-stroke range is set to move even faster with the ‘Ride like a Champ’ promotion. Because participating dealers will offer race kits with every YZ85/LW, YZ125 and YZ250 retailed and customers will be invited to make use of convenient Yamaha Motor Finance when purchasing a two-stroke YZ. Yamaha has continued to develop its two-stroke YZs and with other manufacturers dropping out, the scene is set to capitalise on retail sales.
YZ85/LW customers will receive a junior race kit valued at $733.80 that contains GYTR triple clamps, bars and a Pro Circuit muffler, as used by Yamaha’s Junior Development Team riders.
Purchasers of YZ125 or YZ250 will receive a senior race kit valued at $652.77 RRP that contains all the essentials needed to go racing. Plus both kits will contain vouchers that can be redeemed for a two day course at Yamaha’s Australian Institute of Motocross.
