Hart and Huntington Gold Coast June 20 2009
The final Hart and Huntington free FMX show is on the Gold Coast June 20 2009.
Australia’s best freestyle motocross riders will take to the ramp with FMX legend Carey Hart for the final leg of the Hart and Huntington Freestyle Tour presented by Holden and the Holden Ute on the Gold Coast this Saturday.
Blake ‘Bilko’ Williams, Steve Mini, Kain Saul and Matt Schubring today officially announced they will be performing a range of death defying motorbike stunts at this weekend’s event. For all four riders the event will be a career highlight with Hart considered one of the founders of the emerging FMX movement. For Mini and Saul the event will be extra special with the pair both hailing from the Gold Coast.
“It is definitely a huge honour to be riding with Carey [Hart],” Mini said, “He invented most of the tricks we do today and he is somebody that I have always looked up to. I used to watch him when I was kid, even before I learnt how to ride a bike, so to be riding alongside him will be an awesome experience.”
Saul, who is renowned for his antics on a mini bike is also looking forward to performing in front of a home crowd.
“Carey [Hart] was one of the first riders to land a backflip and when he did it he took FMX to a whole new level,” Saul said. Just to be riding with Carey is a career highlight and to be doing it in front of a home crowd makes it even better.”
Williams, who is the hottest Australian export on the US FMX scene, said it was great to be able to ride with his childhood idol who he now considers a friend.
“I’ve never ridden in a show with Carey [Hart] but when I’m in Las Vegas, he always lets us use his compound and provides us with a place to ride and practice,” Williams said.I saw Carey perform in the first Crusty Demons Tour and he has really paved the way for us to be able to do what we do today. To now be selected to be part of his first ever tour and to ride with him is a huge buzz.”
Hart who also hand picked each rider in the show said Saturday’s event will be something special for the public.
“There is a huge amount of talent within the Australian freestyle scene and the guys who have been selected are without a doubt at the top of their game,” Hart added. “The thing about the Australian riders is that they are not only talented and fearless, they also have a lot of fun when they are performing and this really shines through. It really is a great show planed for Saturday and further more it’s free so we’re expecting lots of Gold Coasters come on down and take a look.”
Williams, Mini, Saul and Schubring join regular Hart and Huntington Freestyle Tour riders Robbie Marshall and Matty McFerran.
After traveling to Melbourne, Newcastle, Sydney and Brisbane the Hart and Huntington Freestyle Tour will conclude on the Gold Coast on Saturday June 20, 2009. The free, three-hour show commences at 4pm.
