2010 Shannons Australian Historic Road Race Championship
The 2010 Shannons Australian Historic Road Race Championship will be held this weekend September 3-5, at the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit.
Included in the entry list that includes over 300 solo entries and 33 sidecars is a 27-strong Kiwi contingent that includes some of New Zealand’s top riders.
The P5 Forgotten Era Unlimited, and the P3 Classic 500 cc fields are bulging with talent. Rob Phillis and Mal Campbell will relive the rivalry which began in the ’80s when both were champions in the superbike ranks. Campbell will be aboard a Suzuki RG500, while Phillis will front on his Mick Hone Suzuki GSX1100.
Others including Leo Cash, Karl Corpe, Craig Ditchburn, Rex Wolfenden and defending champion Laurie Fyffe will battle for the win in a field of 42 entrants. In the 500 cc class, Kiwis Andrew Stroud, Dave Cole and Terry Martin will be hard to beat, but Isle of Man TT winner Cam Donald on Paul Taylor’s Manx Norton will be trying.
Current NZ Superbike Champion Andrew Stroud will ride a 500 cc McIntosh Manx Norton as well as Kevin Grant’s 350 Manx and current NZ 600 Supersport Champion Nick Cole will be aboard the Peter Lodge-owned 500 Norton.
