Led by the all-conquering Street Triple 675, Triumph has dominated the Australian nakedbike sector in the first five months of 2008, with the British hardware claiming the top three positions according to official industry sales data.

The Street Triple 675, based on the award-winning Daytona 675 and with styling hues from the 1050cc Speed Triple, first went on sale in December last year, and has retailed 179 units so far in 2008.

The $12,490 (plus ORC) Street Triple 675 has dominated middleweight comparos throughout the world, with British weekly magazine MCN declaring "Triumph’s new Street Triple is so ahead of the game it makes its naked middleweight rivals look like they’re not trying."

Following the Street Triple 675, the iconic Bonneville twin-cylinder machine continues to sell in large numbers, with the two-tone T100 derivative $13,990) securing second spot with 143 sales, an increase of 60.7 percent over the same period last year.

Meanwhile, 136 standard Bonnevilles left dealer floors to complete the Triumph trifecta.

“This an outstanding result for Triumph, and particularly vindicates our decision to enter the middleweight nakedbike sector with a high-performance machine, but one that is equally at home as a commuter or showing its wares on twisty mountain roads,” said Kevin Greaney, the General Manager of Triumph Australia. “And the Bonneville just continues to endure as an honest and user-friendly steed which looks stunning as standard or can be personalised as desired.”

The Bonneville ($11,990) is now available with electronic fuel-injection, with the Bonneville T100 following suit from September.

Meanwhile, 105 Speed Triples have been retailed so far in 2008, up 15 percent on last year, to make it four Triumphs in the top six of the nakedbike sector.
