MotoGP Aragon Spain 2010

Casey Stoner answered his critics with an emphatic victory at Aragon, after a morning warm up crash. Stoner led almost start to finish, to record his, and Ducati’s first win for 2010. Doubling Ducati’s joy was Nicky Hayden’s first podium finish for the season in 3rd. Dani Pedrosa split the Ducati pair in 2nd after looking like he might have had the speed for the win.

Fiat Yamaha had a disappointing weekend by their standards, with Lorenzo knocked off the podium by Hayden on the last lap leaving him in 4th, and his first finish off the podium. Rossi finishied in 6th. Ben Spies nailed 5th, after a tooth and nail fight with Honda’s Dovizioso, ending with the Honda in the gravel trap with only a few corners to go.

Lorenzo maintains a 56 point lead over Pedrosa, with Stoner in 3rd place well back.

Moto2 Andrea Iannone took the win, leading start to finish, opening up a huge gap to second and third place finishers Julian Simon and Gabor Talmacsi.

Points leader Toni Elias was lucky not to get caught up in a first corner melee which saw 5 riders go down. Elias rode back from 14th place, all the way up to 4th, and given one more lap would possibly have made the podium. Elias holds a commanding 76 point lead in the championship, with one hand now on the trophy.

125cc. The fight for the 2010 125cc championship tightened up considerably after points leader Marc Marquez was taken out in a first corner crash. After a race long battle Pol Espargaro took a narrow victory over fellow Spaniard Nicolas Terol with a stunning “round the outside” last lap move.

Terol now leads the championship by 6 points over Espargaro on 202, with Marquez dropping to 3rd on 197.
