Josh Hayes wins US AMA Superbike Title

Josh Hayes wins 2011 AMA Superbike Championship
Monster Energy/Graves/Yamaha rider Josh Hayes has successfully defended his American Superbike Championship onboard hisĀ YZF-R1 at New Jersey Motorsports Park, the final round of the AMA Pro Racing season, run last weekend in Millville, New Jersey.
Coming into the weekend just five points behind Suzuki rider Blake Young in the Championship chase, Hayes first earned oneĀ point for winning pole in Saturday’s qualifying session, making it eight out of nine pole positions this season. Later on the Saturday, Hayes won Superbike Race one, and earned another bonus point for leading the most laps.
On Sunday, Hayes needed only a podium finish to add back-to-back AMA Superbike titles to his resume.He finished the day, and the season, five points ahead of Young, the opposite of where he began the weekend.
