Sunday March 16 2008, the first round of the Australian Superbike Championships is not only sponsored by Kawasaki, it marks the debut of the all new Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R’s National championships racing campaign.
KRT’s talented riders, Shannon Johnson and Scott Charlton are at the top of their game, ready and hungry for an opening round podium finish. Shannon Johnson and Scott Charlton have put in multiple hours of shakedown and testing at various race tracks around the country to get the new ZX-10R performing at it’s capabilities and at a race winning level for the opening round of the series.
Shannon has fully recovered from a broken hand sustained earlier this year and if pre season testing is anything to go by, Johnson looks fresh and fast enough for a podium finish at the opening round at Eastern Creek this weekend. Johnson say’s,
“Last time I raced at the creek, I finished at the top of the podium. With all the successful testing we’ve completed on the new ZX-10R, there’s no reason why we can’t start the new season where we finished off in 07. In 1st place.”
Scott Charlton is new to KRT in 2008 and has already thoroughly impressed. Scott’s energy, ambition and talent have shown as he’s tested and progressed the Ninja ZX-10R to the stage where he feels he’s ready to make his mark on the nationals.
“I can’t wait for this weekend! I’m very excited to be on board the new ZX-10R. I’ve put a lot of time into preparing both myself and the ZX-10R for the championships and I’m heading out to the Creek with the highest expectations.”
Overseas journalists, testers, reporters and industry insiders have commented favorably on the all new Ninja Motorcycle so KRT are naturally eager to prove the Kawasaki’s worth where it matters most, on the race track! In addition to the rigorous suspension, braking and handling tests the new Motorcycle has undergone so far, KRT will be testing an exciting new Dunlop front tyre at Eastern Creek on Friday and Saturday in a bid to shave even more time off their already decreasing lap times.
KRT has also fitted more sensors and data logging equipment to the new ZX-10R to further utilize the capabilities of KIMS (Kawasaki Ignition Management System), an exciting new function found on all new 08 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R Motorcycles. The brand new Beet exhausts, direct from Japan have proved extremely competitive and KRT’s newest sponsor, DID chains, have come on board to deliver the power.
KRT Manager Dave Cullen says, “This new ZX-10R is such a good thing straight out of the box, so we had a terrific base platform to start with. We’ve tested and developed the ZX-10R into an aggressive, competitive product for the race track, capable of taking Shannon and Scotty straight to the podium. We really can’t wait to introduce this new Motorcycle on the national racing scene.”
