Enter one of two supermoto road race series and win Dunlop race tyres plus a brand new YZ450F!

Yamaha Motor Australia have announced its support of two new national race series aimed at dirt bike riders who want to sample road racing at rock bottom cost.

Both series are based around the most popular competition bike in Australia, namely the 450cc MX/enduro model. Minimal technical changes are allowed ensuring that racing will remain cost effective and on a level playing field. And both series will be run on the tarmac only.

“This is purely an initiative by Yamaha to help riders from any discipline onto a road race track at the lowest cost by running the most popular model in Australia. YMA has invested considerable effort into this to encourage riders to sample road racing in order to grow the sport in Australia,” explains YMA Motorsports Manager Ray Howard. “Both series encourage entry level participation on lightly modified machinery and take place on some of the best tracks in Australia – if not the world – in an effort to ensure that ground level racing is both accessible and inviting to all,” he adds.

YMA is putting up the prize of one brand new YZ450F for the winner of the newly introduced Supermoto 450 RR class of the Yamaha Australian Supermoto Championship (ASMO) and another YZ450F for the winner of the three round Yamaha Australian Supermono Championship.

In addition, the B, C and D grade round winners of each series will receive a FREE pair of Dunlop Alpha 12 production racing tyres in the sizes which are most suited to SM wheel diameters and widths valued at $442 RRP. Tyres will be presented to the winners at each event.

Dates and venues of both series are confirmed as follows:

2011 Australian Supermoto Championship, Supermoto 450 RR
Round 1 Queensland Raceway, QLD 3 to 5 June 2011
Round 2 Phillip Island, VIC 18 to 20 Nov 2011
2011 Yamaha Australian Supermono Championship
Round 1 Eastern Creek Raceway, NSW 2 to 3 July 2011
Round 2 Wakfield Park Raceway NSW 8 to 9 Oct 2011
Round 3 Winton Raceway, VIC 16 to 17 Dec 2011 (Day/Night)

For more information and supplementary regulations on each series, please visit www.asbk.com.au for supermoto or www.Formula-xtreme.com.au for supermono.

Rules and regulations for each series are identical, machine modifications minimal and entry fees are low, which are all designed to encourage participants to enter both series.

Entrants are allowed a minimum tyre/wheel size of 17in, but there is no maximum limit. Gearing changes are also allowed, but very little else can be altered. This means that anyone with a 398cc to 450cc single cylinder fourstroke MX or enduro bike can rock up and race… with minimum outlay.
