Max Biaggi and Aprilia – World Champions 2010

Max Biaggi has become the first ever Italian World Superbike champion after he wrapped up the 2010 crown at Imola. With closest rival Leon Haslam retiring mid race, Biaggi had enough points to claim the title one round early.

His last world title was back in 1997, when he won the World 250cc GP title for the 4th time. The 39 year old Italian has also finished runner-up in both the MotoGP and 500cc World titles.

After switching to WSBK in 2007, Biaggi finished 3rd in the title chase on a Suzuki. 2008 saw Biaggi on a Ducati with the Sterilgarda team, and a 7th place title result. In 2009 he signed with Aprilia, to ride the new V4 RSV-4 machine, tasting success with a first win at Brno that year.

The 2010 season so far has seen him claim 9 wins, and a total of 13 podiums.

Congratulations Aprilia and Max Biaggi!
