Weigand came out firing aboard the Suzuki RM-Z250, winning his first four-lap heat, and then repeated the exercise in his second heat. Delivering his smooth riding style in the 15-lap final,

Weigand dominated the first three-quarters of the race before being baulked by lapped traffic and dropping to fourth place.Finishing fifth in his first heat, Burkhart then recovered from a crash in his second heat to finish inside the top ten.

Running strongly in his final heat, Burkhart was sitting in second place behind fellow Suzuki rider Troy Carroll before a minor crash at the final turn, ultimately crossing the finish line in fourth.

Lining up for the 20-lap Pro Open Final, Burkhart's evening was cut short by a first turn pile up that left him sidelined.

Team Shift Motul Suzuki is hoping to round out the 2007 Australian Supercross Championship on a high note in the final round at Wollongong (NSW) on Saturday 24 March.

Luke Burkhart – Team Shift Motul Suzuki

"It wasn't my night tonight – the bike felt great, but I was caught at the bottom of a pile up at the opening turn in the Final and that put me out for the night."

Tim Weigand – Team Shift Motul Suzuki

"I was having a great race until I came up on the lappers and I got held up really badly.

"I had trouble getting by them and I couldn't jump the triple for about three laps in a row and that ruined my race.

"The RM-Z250 is running brilliantly and I'm getting more in-tune with it every time we race – we've already had some race wins and it's only a matter of time before we take overall round wins."

"It's a shame Timmy made a mistake getting through lapped traffic, but he had a strong night and it looks like he's moved up into third in the championship.

"Luke had another difficult night with crashes and that has set him further back in the championship."  2007 Australian Supercross Championship event and series results still pending.
