Teknic Honda Says They Are Well Prepared For ASC Round 3
A highly successful test session at Winton Raceway has put the Teknic Honda Race Team in good stead for the third round of the Australian Championships this weekend at the Victorian circuit. Superbike riders Glenn Allerton and Jason O’Halloran have a record of strong results at Winton including a top privateer finish for Allerton at both rounds of last year’s double header.
Allerton will have some pressure to deal with after his perfect score at Mallala catapulted him up to the top of the Championship ladder on 80 points to Shawn Giles’ 76, however the 27-year-old isn’t worried.
"This new bike is so easy to ride, it’s not funny," he said. "I’m really enjoying it and the addition of the slipper clutch and lighter weight makes it feel like a completely different machine than last year’s model."
O’Halloran, whose knee is fully recovered from a spill at the open test session held earlier in the month, also had a perfect race result last year in the Supersport class on both days of racing. After having spent more time on the all-new 2008 CBR1000RR including attendance at the bike’s official press and Dealer launch at Phillip Island, as well as participating in the AMCN Masterbike "Shoot Out" this week, Glenn and Jason are more confident than ever.
"We’ve made a lot of progress with preparation of the bike since round two at Mallala so I think we will see both riders continue their consistent form," said Team Manager Paul Free of Motologic. "Wayne (Maxell) is also going much better on the CBR600RR and looking very comfortable so we are expecting some good things from him this weekend."
Emerging talent Brodie Waters will again join the crew aboard his 4-stroke Honda Moriwaki MD250 in the 125GP class where he continues to amaze the 2-stroke competition.
