Two of Teknic Honda’s newest recruits made an impressive appearance at last weekend’s Phillip Island round of the East Coast Road Race Series (ECRRS). Although new to the Superbike ranks after wrapping up the Australian Supersport title earlier this year, 20 year old Jason O’Halloran looked like a dyed-in-the-wool veteran aboard his 2007 CBR1000RR.

The NSW based rider qualified fastest and then went on to sweep comfortably through all three races on Sunday. "It was great to get out there and find a good direction to go in for next year," O’Halloran said. "Winning wasn’t really our objective. It was more a chance to get some track time in so taking home the trophy was a real bonus to the weekend."

Team mate and new Honda recruit, Wayne Maxwell, also found the time useful to test his CBR600RR at the Island for the first time. The 25-year-old also took a clean sweep of Sunday’s races to make it two first place trophies for Honda. "The package of the Honda 600 with the Pirelli tyres is everything I thought it would be," said Maxwell. "It is a fantastic motorcycle and I’m looking forward to riding what I think is going be the most competitive package for me to win on in ’08."

Although team mate, Glenn Allerton, was not able to compete at the event, Team Manager Paul Free said it was a great chance to get things in motion for next year. "Both Jason and Wayne were very impressive this weekend," he said. "Even though we didn’t’ expect to come up against too much resistance in terms of the racing, it was still a very valuable exercise in regard to working on set-up for both riders," Free said.
