The 2007 Winternationals have been run and won at Willowbank Raceway in Queensland. This event is considered the “Grand Final” of the drag racing series, with Australian Championships decided in all classes.

Top Fuel Motorcycle had already been decided points wise before the event, with West Australian Jay Uptons radical aero style bike securing the championship at the last round. Luckily for Jay as it turned out, as a change in motor type resulted in several motor explosions, and a non qualifying result.

Brett Stevens top qualified and went on to win the event over team mate Troy Mclean, both on nitro Harleys, Stevens winning time a 6.58 sec at 212 mph.

Pro Stock Motorcycle went yet again to Dion Prowse over Daniel Peateys 1650cc Suzuki GSXR, the Buell overcoming a Peatey holeshot to win with a 7.17, to Peateys 7.27. Prowse wins the Pro Stock Motorcycle Championship in his rookie year, having gone all season undefeated on the S&S bike.

Dave Rundmann

Competition Bike had Queenslands Peter Everett on top after qualififying, with an 8.82 sec pass from his 1500cc Suzuki streeter. After championship points leader Ross Lemburg was defeated early in eliminations, the final between Everett and fellow Queenslander Dave Rundman on his Suzuki GSXR1000 would decide the championship.

Everett jumped Rundmann on the lights, but a slight traction loss was all it took for Rundmann to hang on for a win on his well ridden street bike with a 9.60 at 144 mph, to Everetts slightly off pace 8.94 at 159 mph.

Adam Ewing

After most of the favourites for the class fell early, the huge field of Modified Bike was taken out by West Australian Adam Ewing on his Suzuki GSXR, winning the Australian Championship as well, over a red lighting Ian Boswood, 8.64 to 9.42. This is the second rider to win an Australian Championship on this bike, both from WA, Sean Arthur the first.
