Jay Upton and his Honda and Gates Belts & Hose backed team made a significant breakthrough during testing at last weekends Grand Final at the Perth Motorplex.

The Team has been gathering momentum throughout the season, but has now jumped to the top of the performance tree, blasting out Australia’s quickest ever motorcycle pass at the weekend, 6.17 seconds at an early shutoff of only 185 Mph. (298Kph)

“We have been working on some new engine ideas for sometime, with limited success, but our most recent work is hugely successful as we saw at the weekend,” said Upton “It will take us a little time to refine this, but we can now rewrite the record books over the next few races”

“We have been aware for a while that there are some high budget teams with current USA built machinery already landed here in Australia.  That’s the reason we decided to go to the new engines and stiffer chassis. It’s just taken a bit longer than we thought to get to the next level. I’m really happy that the new equipment has now outperformed our previous setup.”

Jay and the team will be in Sydney the first weekend of May to contest the Snap-on Nitro Champs event and have to be favourites to reset the Australian Record.

The Team is second in the National Championship and will be out to win for Honda MPE and Gates Belts and Hoses.
