Results from the Valencia round of the World Superbike Championship 2010
Round 3 of the 2010 World Superbike Championship at Valencia in Spain was a dramatic affair.
Leon Haslam (Suzuki Alstare) rode away into the distance for a Race 1 win, after local hero Checa crashed out. Max Biaggi (Aprilia) finished in second, ahead of a resurgent James Toseland (Yamaha).
Troy Corser gave BMW it’s best ever finish with a hard fought 4th place. Corser even led the race early on, and was understandably pleased with the result.
The second race was marred by a spectacular crash which brought out the red flag, and resulted in a two part aggregate score race format. The massive front straight crash involving Ianuzzo and Kawasaki sub rider Simon Andrews left both riders injured and resulted in a lengthy cleanup delay.
Despite leading before the red flag, Carlos Checa was overrun by Nori Haga after the restart, with Haga winning by a mere 2 hundreths of a second, with Biaggi again putting the Aprilia on the podium in third.
Local favorite Joan Lascorz won the Supersport race, with the battle for second going to Kenan Sofuoglu (Hannspree Ten Kate Honda) over Chaz Davies on the ParkinGO Triumph 675. Fourth place went to local man and fellow Triumph rider David Salom.
