A street-legal, jet-powered production motorcycle that costs over $275,000 and has a top speed of close to 400km/h is sure to stand out from the crowd at this week’s Sydney Motorcycle Show.

The only bike of its kind in Australia, the Y2K is powered by a Rolls Royce gas turbine engine and produces over 320 horsepower. Once described by Jay Leno as ‘…like the hand of God pushing you in the back…’, the power and potential top speeds are simply breathtaking.

But the Y2K’s ‘sound signature’, the sound produced by the jet engine upon ignition, is an experience in itself.

The motorcycle will be just one of the showstoppers on display at the event which runs from Friday November 21 to Sunday November 23.

As well as a host of custom, concept and one-off machines, over 400 brand new models, some seen for the first time in Australia, will fill the Showgrounds at Sydney Olympic Park. The family-friendly atmosphere will appeal to all ages – the young, and young at heart. As well as motorcycle models ranging from 50cc to over 1000cc, there will be over 100 exhibitors displaying their range of innovative products, accessories, safety gear, rider training services and more.

Non stop stunt, freestyle motocross, trial-riding and mini bike displays will keep the action junkies entertained too. Tickets to the event start at just $13 for children, but for value, the family pass ($44 for 2 adults and 2 children) is unbeatable. The event opens each day at 10am.
