Aprilia launch Tuono V4R in Australia

Aprilia have announced the arrival of the new V4R Tuono with a series of launch events around the country.

We attended the launch on the Gold Coast held at Mal McConnell’s Gold Coast Aprilia dealership. Given that the old twin cylinder Tuono was- and still is – one of ourĀ  favorite road machines, we were eager to get a look at the new V4 replacement.

Aprilia had both the yellow model, as well as a blinged up black version of the Tuono R. Both colours looked good in their own way, the yellow is particularly eye-catching.

Like the older Tuono, the V4R is again based on the RSV sports version, with the most obvious differences being the snub nose fairing, and high bars. Aprilia have put a fair bit more work into the Tuono this time around, and athough the specs are similar to the RSV4, there have been many minor modifications made to make the Tuono more user friendly as a road weapon, rather than a track tool.

The pillion is better catered for with a much larger rear seat section without damaging the design of the tail. The engine features multiple mods to enhance lower end torque and rideability, while still sporting all of Aprilia’s electronic trickery such as launch control, wheelie control and traction control known as APRC.

According to Aprilia’s Mark Immer, the Tuono V4R has generated a huge amount of interest and enquiries, and combined with strong pre launch sales the result has been a sellout of the first shipment. More are on their way of course, but best to talk to your local Aprilia dealer for details.

We hope to bring you a full details and a ride report as soon as possible.
