Suzuki’s rack of LAMs
Suzuki has introduced a range of motorcycles suitable for the LAMS scheme, to be introduced into Victoria July 1 2008.
Suzuki LAMS Range
Learner motorcyclists in Victoria will be spoilt for choice from 1 July, when the State Government introduces the Learner Approved Motorcycle Scheme (LAMS), with Suzuki offering the largest current range of LAMS-eligible models. Victoria will join South Australia, Tasmania, A.C.T. and New South Wales as states where LAMS applies to learner riders. Replacing the existing restrictions that limit engine capacity to 250cc, learner and probationary riders in Victoria will now be able to ride motorcycles with a power-to-weight ratio of up to 150kW/tonne and a maximum engine capacity of 660cc.
"Introducing LAMS in Victoria is a great initiative by the State Government to maximise rider safety, and Suzuki is 100% behind that," Perry Morison, General Manager, Motorcycles, Suzuki Australia says. "LAMS has been developed around the performance capabilities of today’s motorcycles and gives riders a wider range of options, including an increased number of modern motorcycles with advanced technology like ABS."
"This is a very responsible move that will significantly benefit inexperienced riders as they enter the motorcycling community."
Suzuki’s current LAMS range consists of 10 models, including scooters, a cruiser, sports tourers, trail bikes and a Super Motard, providing the broadest choice of learner-compliant motorcycles in Australia.
Prices start at just $6,490 (inc GST), plus government and dealer delivery charges, for the Intruder 250 cruiser, with seven other models available for an RRP below $9,000 (inc GST, plus government and dealer delivery charges). Suzuki’s LAMS range will continue to grow, with new models set to be added to the line-up in the coming months.
"With lower fuel costs compared to an average car, two-wheeled transportation is becoming more and more popular," Mr. Morrison said. "A LAMS-eligible motorcycle is a great way for people to make the transition from four wheels to two, with many great-value and feature-packed options available."
Suzuki’s LAMS-eligible models are available for the following RRP; GS500F $7,990, GS500 $7,390, AN650A $12,990, AN400 $9,490, VL250 $6,490, DR650SE $7,690, DR-Z400SM $8,590, DR-Z400S $7,990, DR-Z400E $8,790, DR-Z250 $6,990.
Prices include GST, with dealer delivery and government charges to be added. For further information about Suzuki models, head to www.suzuki.com.au .
