Kawasaki 2010 Motocross Range
Kawasaki have released images and some details on the 2010 range of motocross green meanies. Kawasaki anticipate an August-September 2009 release for the 2010 KX450F and KX250F (subject to change). Release dates for the 2010 KX85 (small wheel & big wheel) and KX65 are yet to be announced.
Summary of changes.
Both 450 and 250 feature for the first time in a mass-production machine, a new high-performance piston with bridged-box bottom, the same design as the factory racers.
The KX450 features a reprogramable ECU via an optional kit. The exhaust has been shortened on the 450 for better md range.
Both machines have new thicker, wider radiators with more widely spaced cores/fins These are stronger, offer better resistance to mud build-up while maintaining cooling performance. Also they are lighter overall, making reinforcing brackets unnecessary.
Suspensions have had a rework, new steering head, and swingarms for both bikes. The 250 sports Showa titanium twin chamber units at the front. The bigger machine has a pair of Kayaba DLC. (Diamond-like Carbon coating)
Petal style lightened disc rotors feature, along with revised spring rates, and altered linkage rates for precise handling.
At this time no information was available on the smaller KX85 and KX65.
