Spies on pole at Indianapolis
Texan Ben Spies has claimed his first MotoGP pole at Indianapolis.
Ben Spies has grabbed a popular first ever pole position in his home country race at Indianapolis. Spies first ever pole was .22 seconds quicker than second place Jorge Lorenzo, with another American joining Spies on the front row in Nicky Hayden.
An American has not earned pole since Colin Edwards 2008 effort in China, also on a Tech3 Yamaha.
The two Repsol Hondas managed 4th and 5th places, with Casey Stoner in sixth. Valentino Rossi fell with 5 minutes left in the session, his time up to that point only enough for 7th. He was uninjured.
The race will shown live on OneHD and Ten at @ 4.30am Monday morning.
