Derivados de Bicicletas
Derbi show off a concept derived from a bicycle.
Barcelona based Piaggio group manufacturer Derbi say their name comes from a shortening of the phrase "Derivados de bicicletas" (DERIved from BIcycles).
A concept bike from Derbi, the DH 2.0 certainly supports that ethos. The DH (for Down Hill) is half mountain bike, half trials bike. Weighing in at under 40kg, the 100cc aluminium framed crossbreed has numerous weight saving features. Fuel is carried in the frame, rear suspension is sprung with an air bag. Carbon fibre bits abound.
Whilst I can see a great range of opportunities for this type of machine, the most obvious is for those to lazy to pedal up to the top of their favorite downhill course. We’ll be watching for a production version.
