IMS Fuel Tank
We recently took delivery of an oversize fuel tank for our long term KTM450EXC. Manufactured by IMS in the US and giving us a fuel capacity of 11.7lt, up from 8lt, it’s just what we needed for our thirsty Katoom. No more carrying extra fuel on those longer rides, that’s gotta be a bonus.
Fitting the tank is a fairly straight forward affair and it does fit well. My only gripe was that the supplied fuel tap gasket leaked, so I replaced it with the standard KTM o-ring and that solved the problem. The tank is 10mm wider than stock, hardly noticeable when riding and IMS supply some neat aluminum spacers to accommodate this. The bulbous top area does look intrusive, but I can assure you that while riding, you don’t even know it’s there. RRP in Oz is around the $650 mark, but if you aren’t affraid of shopping on the web, you can pick them up alot cheaper.
