Craig Lowndes and Yamaha
Not content with racing a V8 Supercar and being an all round legend, he also gets a swathe of free Yamaha’s. Doesnt seem fair.
One of the nation’s most successful and celebrated motorsport personalities, Craig Lowndes, will again embrace the Yamaha lifestyle in 2008. The 33 year old, who began his racing career on mini bikes from age eight, is a big fan of the tuning fork brand: "Yamaha produces some of the best products that really suit my lifestyle, so I am stoked to again represent a company that offers such high quality motorcycles," says the three time V8 Supercar series winner.
Lowndes recently took delivery of some key 2008 Yamaha models including a PW50 for his son Levi, and a Rhino side-by-side ATV to help him to access remote locations around his 1000 acre Kilcoy, QLD property. He also has a YZ450F motocross bike to hone his fitness and the lightning quick reactions that are required at the elite level of V8 Supercar competition, a pinnacle he has remained at since winning his first touring car title in 2006. In addition, Lowndes also collected a YZF-R1 superbike that will ensure the adrenaline is pumping on the tarmac, on two-wheels as well as four.
"Levi is four years old now and loves motorbikes. I started racing minibikes aged eight and it lead to a fantastic career in motor racing. Who knows what career path Levi will take, but there will be no pressure on him to race. However, I know that with the right supervision and on Yamaha’s safe and reliable PW50, he will have the best introduction available," explains the three-time Bathurst 1000 winner.
As his busy schedule permits, Lowndes will attend various Yamaha supported events such as Yamaha’s Australian Institute of Motocross training courses, selected QLD trail rides and motorcycle shows. Yamaha Motor Australia is excited to again have Lowndes involved with the brand, as General Manager/Director Steven Cotterell explains:
"Craig Lowndes is not only a motor racing legend but a nationwide sports icon. His high level of professionalism reflects Yamaha’s brand values and Craig’s dedication to his family mirrors Yamaha’s aim to offer products that can be enjoyed by the whole family. We are delighted to continue our association with Craig."
