Kawasaki Racing Team (KRT) women’s sensation, Katherine Prumm, stormed home to clean sweep Round Two of the Australian Women’s Motocross Championship at The Lakes on NSW’s Central Coast, over the weekend.
With KRT’s full Factory Team support including fellow KRT KX250F pilots, Mitch Hoad and Cody Mackie on hand to support the champion rider, Katherine dictated racing, demonstrating to the Australian contingent why she is the current World Champion. Posting fast lap times throughout the event, Prumm responded well to the man made clay track, quickly stamping her authority over the field on her first outing to The Lakes track.
Race One saw Prumm launch from the line to confidently lead into the first turn, where she was quick to pull a substantial lead over the field. Prumm lead the first race from start to finish, reeling in the rear of the field by the three quarter mark of the race. Posting the fastest lap time of the women’s event, a 1:45.03, Prumm finished the opening race 22 seconds ahead of fellow Kawasaki pilot, Ashley Bates.
In Race Two, Prumm was again quick to get the jump on the field, with her lead from line excluding her from the first turn pile up which left half the field scrambling to remount their rides and rejoin the race. Prumm pulled away to a solid lead over second and third place getters Kristy Gillespie and Amy Boyd, taking the chequered flag by a margin of 27 seconds.
Prumm was happy with her performance over the weekend and was quick to thank KRT for their help and support throughout the event. “I was happy with my performance this weekend,” said Prumm. “Charlie, Marty and the Team at Kawasaki prepared a great bike for me this weekend and I received great support and encouragement from all the crew.”
“The level of women’s racing in Australia is as good as anywhere else in the world, so it was good to come away with the win amongst strong competition. I wasn’t as happy with the way I rode at round one in Newry, but the track conditions here at The Lakes suited me better and I really enjoyed my racing this weekend.”
“It is great to have the opportunity to contest the Australian Championship via the Team Green program”
KRT Team Manager, Brett Whale, is pleased with Prumm’s racing performance and with the level of support shown by both the KRT Mechanics and riders.
“Katherine did a great job for Kawasaki over the weekend and we enjoy being able to support her as she continues her domination over Women’s Motocross” said Whale. "Both Cody and Mitch and their engineers Charlie and Marty, were there to assist Katherine and lend their full support over the weekend. This reflects the Teams commitment to seeing her continue her success for Kawasaki in 2007.”
