Kawasaki rider Linden Magee has achieved impressive podium finishes onboard his Kawasaki KX450F in rounds 4 and 5 of the 2007 Australian Supermoto Championships on 10 &11 November at Queensland Raceway. The Kawasaki rider has his sights set on wrapping up the series in the top three as he heads to Calder Park Raceway this weekend for the final round, sitting comfortably in 3rd place in the Premier S2 class of the series.
Linden had a fantastic weekend as he claimed 2nd place in round 4 and backed it up with another podium, fifi nishing 3rd in round 5 in only his second outing on the Kawasaki Motorcycle. Linden qualififi ed well in Saturdays round 4 to make Super Pole in race 1 onboard his Kawasaki Race Team prepared KX450F. After a strong start, Linden stalled in the dirt and lost multiple places. Undeterred, he fought back hard making up those places and held on for a podium fifi nish, crossing the line for a hotly contested 2nd place.
Linden saw more success in race 2 with another podium fifi nish. After a shaky start, Linden rode hard to catch the race leader but after running out of front tyre grip, had to settle for a well fought 2nd place. The 2 podium fifi nishes on Saturday saw Linden take a very impressive 2nd place for the round. Sunday’s round 5 was to bring even more podium fifi nishes to the Kawasaki rider. After qualifying in Super Pole again, Linden recovered from a bad start in the fifi rst race to claw back to a remarkable 3rd place. He backed that up with another podium in the second race. The 2 podium fifi nishes saw him fifi nish the round strongly in 3rd place. Linden was very happy with his results for the weekend.
“The KX450F is performing extremely well.” he said. “It was only my second outing on the bike but it already feels so comfortable. It’s handling superbly, the engine is very strong, it’s an extremely competitive motorcycle. I’m really happy to be sitting in 3rd place and I’m looking forward to seeing if I can improve on that at Calder Park Raceway this weekend.”
Team Manager Brett Whale was also very impressed with Linden’s results. “I’m extremely happy with how well the Team, Linden and the KX450F are gelling. The KX450F is proving itself in all areas. We’ve only been to 2 race meets with this bike and we’re already close to the lap records. We’re even challenging the Australian champion! It just shows how strong our KX450F is! I’m so happy for Linden, the mechanics and the whole team. We’re all looking forward to round 6 this weekend. To be sitting in 3rd place is fantastic, and the possibility of 2nd is really spurring us on.”
Brett, Linden and the team head to Calder Park Raceway in Victoria on Sunday 25 November, 2007 for the final round of the series.
