Harley-Davidson have released details of the 2009 model range. More detailed coverage of each model will be available in seperate articles on Motoaus.com shortly.
Here is a few of the highlights of the 2009 Harley-Davidson lineup:
V-Rod Muscle
The new Harley-Davidson V-Rod Muscle power cruiser features a side pipe style exhaust, huge air scoops and 5 spoke cast alloy wheels .The Muscle joins the VRSCAW V-Rod and the VRSCDX Night Rod Special in the 2009 Harley-Davidson VRSC line up. All of the V-Rods are wearing the fat 240 series rear tyre, driven by the 123 hp, 1250cc Revolution motor, and stopped by a trifecta of ABS Brembos.
XR1200
The XR 1200 features XR 750 inspired styling and livery, a 1200cc Fuel injected high performance powertrain, specifically developed Dunlop Qualifier tyres and unique lightweight cast wheels with dirt track inspired design. Up front reside a pair of Nissan four piston calipers with 292mm patented Harley Davidson “uniform expansion rotors”.
Touring Range
Five Touring models with a new chassis that includes a new frame, swingarm, wheels and tires, with a redesigned exhaust and engine mounts. Cruise control will be introduced as a standard feature on all Touring models whilst ABS becomes standard on both Touring and V-Rod models.
Street Bob
The Dyna Street Bob gets a fresh dose of retro bobber attitude, with a newly chopped rear fender, blacked-out powertrain and an LED taillight from an old school custom.
Sportster
Select Sportster models have recalibrated suspension and improved damping for improved ride
quality. All Sportster and FX models (except the Dyna Fat Bob) have a new front fender that better matches
the radius of the front tyre for a cleaner look.
Rocker
The Rocker is a hard-tail chopper style. The Rockertail rear section mounts a wide fender directly to the swing arm, with a 240 mm x 18-inch rear tire. The Rocker rear fender and wheel move in unison through the 3.4 inches of rear suspension travel. A new monochromatic silver stainless steel powder-coated paint scheme highlights the custom look. The seat is just 24.5 inches (622mm) off the ground –among the lowest seat height of any motorcycle on the market today. The stop and tail light functions are integrated with the rear indicators, eliminating the need for the traditional tail lamp on the rear fender.
Cross Bones
The Soft tail Cross Bones features a Gloss Black Springer front end and follows with other post-war styling cues, including a black round air cleaner cover, sprung solo seat, half-moon rider footboards and chopped front fender. The adjustable two-position pan-style saddle rides at a height of 26.6 inches with arm-high Gloss Black mini ape hanger handlebars. The oil tank features a new Willie G. autographed skull graphic. A chrome straight shot exhaust with slash-cut mufflers contrasts with the dark frame and powertrain.
