Queensland Raceway is due for it’s long awaited resurfacing to commence.

Scheduled for work last year, the resurfacing was delayed to bad weather, and then the Brisbane floods. Weather permitting, the work will start on October 31st 2011.

According to a press release from QR, Contractors Fulton Hogan will be resurfacing the entire 3.12km circuit with a new super strong compound and also repairing several bumps to correct the “Asphalt Push” entering the heavy braking zones of Turn 1 and Turn 3. The total cost of the works and the resurfacing will exceed 1.2 million dollars.

Queensland Raceways CEO John Tetley said the track will be out of use for around 8 weeks, and then a period of several months of light use only, as the asphalt is allowed to cure to full strength.

Look for track records to tumble with the bumps removed.
