Street Triple for Lukey Luke

At the international press launch of the Triumph Street Triple 675, Scottish stuntman Kevin Carmichael mesmerised the assembled throng with his full collection of tricks, the likes of which took him to the world stunt title in 2002. With Carmichael sowing the seeds, Triumph Australia is now delighted to announce a collaboration with one of Australia’s leading stuntman, Lukey Luke.

ImageThe Melbourne-based 25-year-old, who already has a number of state and national stunt titles in his CV, will be riding the Street Triple 675 at a number of events in the second half of 2008, including all the V8 Supercar rounds (Bathurst being the big one), the Australian stopover for MotoGP at Phillip Island from October 3-5, and the Sydney Motorcycle Expo from November 21-23.

“I’ve always been a big Triumph fan, and I only recently sold my Daytona 675 which I used for track days,” said Luke. “I loved that bike, but when the Street Triple 675 came along it struck me as the perfect bike to continue my stunt career on. The bike is just brilliant: it’s full of torque and so nimble. For a stuntman, that’s all you really need.”

Luke made his debut on the Street Triple 675 at last weekend’s round of the inaugural XSC Australian Stunt Riding Championship, finishing third out of 22 competitors in the individual freestyle and winning the team event alongside Matt Mingay and Cameron Ambridge under the Team Stuntz Inc banner.

“Considering that I only rode the Street Triple a few times before the event, I’m extremely pleased with how it all went,” said Luke. “I’ll now head back into the workshop and do a little more fine-tuning, and I look forward to putting on a real show for spectators during the remainder of 2008.”

The Street Triple 675, a combination of  the  Daytona 675 (engine) and the venerable Speed Triple (styling), retails in Australia for $12,490. Early next year, Triumph will be releasing a new, higher-specification version of the Street Triple – the Street Triple R. The R comes brimming with racetrack technology, including fully adjustable 41mm USD forks, a top-spec rear monoshock and radially mounted four-piston calipers.
