Pedrosa wins 2011 Portuguese MotoGP
Results from the 2011 Portuguese MotoGP at Estoril.
Dani Pedrosa rode a stunning race after recent surgery to out pace Jorge Lorenzo for the win at Estoril. Pedrosa stalked Lorenzo for much of the race, his Honda seemingly outpaced. With the laps counting down, Pedrosa surged to the lead, and gapped Lorenzo enough to hold on for a much needed Honda win
Casey Stoner followed a distant third, with team mate Andrea Dovisioso pipping Valentino Rossi right on the finish line for 4th, making 3 Repsol Honda’s in the top 4.
The expected fireworks from up and coming Marco Simoncelli ended after two corners when he fired himself over the handlebars while pushing hard on cold tyres.
Ben Spies had a shocker, finishing back in 14th, while privaterr Yamaha rider Cal Crutchlow continued his impressive run with an 8th, despite problems from recent arm surgery.
