Yamaha to race ASBK and FX in 2011
YRT -Yamaha Racing Team will compete in both the Australasian FX Superbike Championship (FX) as well as the Australian Superbike Championships (ASBK) in 2011.
Yamaha for FX and ASBK SS in 2011
Yamaha Racing Team (YRT) will compete in 11 national road-racing events in both FX and ASBK, plus selected high profile meetings such as the Bel-Ray Six Hour in 2011.
They will again campaign the full 6 round Australasian FX Superbike Championships. Reigning champions Rick Olson and Kevin Curtain along with up and coming star Pat Medcalf will compete in the FX championship. All three riders will grid up on the Yamaha R1 in the FX1000cc Superbike class while Curtain will also take on the 600cc duties making for some busy weekends for the experienced racer.
YRT will also re-enter the ASBK Championship series in 2011 with the sole focus of winning the 600cc Supersport class. Successful guest appearances in 2010 whetted the appetite of the team .
Kevin Curtain and Rick Olson will spearhead the Yamaha attack at the ASBK rounds.
“It is going to be an enormous year for everyone on the team,” explains YRT manager, John Redding.
“The FX Championship proved to be a wise move for us in 2010 and with the reduced costs of racing a production based series, we have been able to include more events in 2011. Re-entering the ASBK is because Yamaha is passionate about racing. As a company we pride ourselves on our continued commitment to racing and for 2011 we have the means and budget to contest both series.”
